Headteachers Welcome

Our Ysgol Bryn Alyn community is an amazing one. It has been wonderful to see us all come together in this extremely difficult time to support our young people. Despite the sadness of having to close our doors to the majority of our pupils our fantastic staff have worked tirelessly to ensure every pupil has received a quality online provision and personal pastoral support. Our Pastoral Google Classrooms have been a great way for all students to reach out to each other and their form staff and I have been delighted with how well they have been used, from posting online assemblies to form quiz times. Our learning opportunities have included webinars, online lessons, online quizzes, flip grid, great use of Google Classroom and much, much more. Our staff have enjoyed up-skilling themselves to ensure your children receive the very best education they can offer.

I have, as always, been amazed by the outstanding work our students have produced from TickTock dance videos to detailing the workings of an engine! Our students have been working so hard and I have been delighted with how well they have engaged in all of their subjects. You may have seen several newspaper articles about our school. Our Expressive Arts department set a Lockdown Video challenge and the quality of what our students produced was so exceptional they featured in the local news. We have also been celebrating our students developing other quality life skills, one student in particular demonstrated amazing design and construction skills building a great play area for his sister and featured in the local news.

It has been really sad to say goodbye to our Year 11 students, particularly this year when all of our usual celebrations have had to be postponed. They have all worked so hard and deserve the very best for their future. However, all is not lost! We are looking forward to seeing you all again on results day and we are working hard to make sure it is a day to remember! Not to forget our long awaited Prom - date to be confirmed!

We are looking forward to meeting our new year 7 students and with a larger cohort than ever we cannot wait. Despite us not being able to run our usual transition offer we have done so much to get to know them already. We have posted out welcome postcards, time capsule booklets (to be collected and given back at their Prom 2025), Transition Google Classrooms, transition booklets, organised online webinars for parents, online teams meetings for pupils and so much more. I would like to thank the pastoral team for all they have done to ensure the transition of our new Year 7s has been as smooth as possible in these difficult times.

A massive thanks has to go to our wonderful staff and also to parents for supporting our young people through this difficult time. We will come out of this stronger together and I look forward to September when we can support all of our pupils to Dream, Reach and Achieve.
