Alys Jones (YBA 2007-2012)

My name is Alys Jones & I left YBA in 2012 (has it really been that long??) - here's my update of what's happened since I left!

After leaving YBA and finishing my A-levels at Yale, I moved to London to study for a Bachelors degree in Human Geography at King's College (University of London). I graduated with a first class degree (with honours) and went on to join Deliveroo in their Head Office as a Senior Project Manager. 

That job title doesn't begin to explain everything I've done in that time - I've worked with creative studios to set up and run photoshoots, set up a stock inventory system and worked alongside a team of hospitality experts and Michelin-star chefs to develop food and create our own restaurants - and that's not even half of it. For the past 14 months I've been working on creating "Virtual Brands" (read more here), which are a way for restaurants to add a second, 'delivery-only' menu to their kitchen to help them earn more money. It's still very new, and I've been part of the team in Deliveroo who have been working on pioneering this effort and building this concept in 13 countries, working with stakeholders across these markets to launch and maintain new Virtual Restaurants in places like Dubai and Hong Kong.

I also work as a freelance artist and graphic designer - last year, I created a poster as part of a collaboration with John Green (author of The Fault in our Stars and youtuber under the channel 'Vlogbrothers') which helped raise more than $10,000 for charity, and I continue to work with John to design for his online bookclub Life's Library.
