PACT
Supporting Children and Families Through PACT
At our school, we are committed to supporting the wellbeing, safety and success of every child. We recognise that some children may experience the imprisonment of a parent or close family member, which can be a challenging and often emotional time for the whole family.
PACT (Prison Advice and Care Trust) is a UK charity that supports prisoners, people with convictions, and their children and families. PACT works to strengthen family relationships, provide practical and emotional support, and help children maintain positive family connections where appropriate.

How We Support Children Affected by Parental Imprisonment
As a school, we understand that every family situation is unique. We aim to provide a safe, understanding and non-judgemental environment where children feel valued and supported.
We will:
Treat all children and families with dignity, respect and confidentiality.
Provide a trusted adult in school who children can talk to if they need support.
Work sensitively with parents, carers and external agencies, including PACT, when appropriate.
Monitor children's emotional wellbeing and offer additional support where needed.
Ensure staff understand the impact that parental imprisonment may have on children's emotional, social and educational development.
Promote an inclusive school culture where all children feel a sense of belonging.
We believe that with the right support, children can continue to thrive both emotionally and academically. If you would like further information about PACT or support available through school, please contact our safeguarding team.
