Wellbeing Wednesday
Wellbeing Wednesday

At Ysgol Bryn Alyn, we recognise that wellbeing, curiosity and creativity are essential to successful learning. Our Wellbeing Wednesday programme gives pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 the opportunity to step beyond the traditional curriculum and explore activities that develop new interests, skills and experiences.

Each Wednesday afternoon, pupils choose from a range of activities designed to inspire, challenge and engage them. Opportunities may include bike maintenance, sugar crafting, knitting, yoga and many more. By giving pupils a choice, we encourage them to discover new passions, develop confidence and learn skills that they can use both in and beyond school.

Wellbeing Wednesday supports the Curriculum for Wales, particularly the Health and Well-being and Expressive Arts Areas of Learning and Experience. The programme provides opportunities for pupils to develop creativity, problem-solving, independence, resilience and positive relationships, while supporting their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.

The programme also contributes directly to the four purposes of the Curriculum for Wales, helping our pupils to become:
Ambitious, capable learners who enjoy discovering and developing new skills.
Enterprising, creative contributors who are willing to try new things and explore their ideas.
Ethical, informed citizens who work collaboratively and contribute positively to their school community.
Healthy, confident individuals who understand the importance of looking after their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.

Wellbeing Wednesday is about more than learning a new hobby. It is about giving pupils the time, space and opportunity to explore, create, connect and discover what they enjoy, helping them to become curious, confident and lifelong learners.
