Uniform

School Uniform

At YBA, we believe that a smart and consistent uniform helps to create a positive learning environment where every student feels part of our school community. Wearing our uniform with pride reflects our values of respect, responsibility and aspiration, while helping students develop the professional standards that will benefit them throughout their lives.

A school uniform promotes equality, reduces pressure on families regarding fashion trends and helps students focus on what matters most: their learning. It also strengthens our sense of identity and belonging, ensuring that all students feel part of the YBA community.

We ask all students to attend school each day wearing the correct uniform and presenting themselves in a way that reflects our high expectations. Parents and carers play an important role in supporting these standards, and we greatly appreciate their partnership in ensuring students arrive at school ready to learn.

Our uniform has been carefully chosen to be practical, comfortable and representative of our school's values. Full details of the required uniform, including PE kit and approved suppliers, can be found below.

Why We Have a Uniform

Our uniform:

  • Promotes a sense of pride in belonging to YBA

  • Creates a positive and professional learning environment

  • Encourages equality and inclusion

  • Reduces distractions and peer pressure relating to fashion

  • Supports students in developing high standards of personal presentation

  • Helps students represent the school positively within the local community

Working Together

We recognise that uniform plays an important part in school life, and we are committed to working with families to ensure that all students can meet our expectations. If you experience any difficulties regarding school uniform, please contact the school as soon as possible so that we can provide advice and support.

By maintaining high standards together, we help create a school environment where every student feels proud, confident and ready to succeed.

Ready to Learn. Ready to Achieve. Ready to Belong.

Guidance on School Shoes

We appreciate that many retailers now market a wide range of footwear as "school shoes". Whilst some of these products are labelled as suitable for school, many are designed and styled in a similar way to trainers and do not meet our uniform requirements. To support families in making informed purchasing decisions, we would like to remind you of the following expectations: All school shoes should be:

· Black leather shoes

· Polishable

· Plain in appearance

· Smart and suitable for school

· Free from noticeable logos, branding or sports-style features Plain ankle boots with flat soles are permitted (these must be worn with trousers over them)

The following are not permitted:

· Trainers of any kind

· Trainer-style shoes, even if marketed as school shoes

· Shoes with prominent logos or branding

· Canvas or sports footwear

· Shoes with coloured detailing, contrasting soles or sports-style designs

· Boots that are not plain, have raised or non-flat soles, or extend above the ankles. We appreciate that many retailers advertise trainer-style footwear as suitable ‘school shoes’. As a general rule, if the shoe looks primarily like a trainer rather than a traditional school shoe, it is unlikely to be acceptable.

Examples of School Shoes

The photographs below are provided as guidance only. When considering whether footwear is appropriate, please focus on the overall appearance of the shoe. Traditional, leather, polishable school shoes are acceptable. Trainer-style footwear, even when marketed as school shoes, is generally not permitted.
