Shannon Katherall attended Ysgol Bryn Alyn between 2014 and 2018 and has gone on to build a successful career in environmental conservation and ecology.

After leaving Ysgol Bryn Alyn, Shannon continued her studies at Coleg Cambria's Llysfasi campus, where she achieved a Distinction* in Level 3 Animal Care. Her passion for wildlife, conservation and the natural environment then led her to the University of Cumbria, where she studied for a BSc in Animal Conservation, graduating in 2025.

Following university, Shannon relocated to Scotland and now works for the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) as an Ecologist. In her role, she helps protect Scotland's rivers and freshwater environments, ensuring they remain clean, healthy and sustainable for wildlife and future generations. Her work contributes to safeguarding some of the country's most valuable natural habitats and plays an important role in environmental protection and conservation.

Reflecting on her journey, Shannon's success demonstrates how dedication to a particular interest can develop into a rewarding and meaningful career. From studying animal care at college to earning a university degree and now working professionally in environmental conservation, she has followed her passion every step of the way.
